Kapa Haka

Kapa Haka is a vibrant and essential part of life at Ōtūmoetai Primary School, celebrating the beauty and strength of Te Ao Māori through waiata, haka, and cultural performance. It provides students with the opportunity to build confidence, develop leadership skills, and strengthen their identity while embracing tikanga and te reo Māori.

Our tamariki proudly represent our kura, performing at school events, community gatherings, and Te Rā Rēhia, the Ōtūmoetai Kāhui Ako festival.

We have two Kapa Haka roopū:

Weka Roopū – led by Whaea Tia, Matua Jon, and Mr Hantler

Kea Roopū – led by Matua Jon and Miss Hanna

Our passionate kaiako guide and support our students in developing their skills and understanding of Kapa Haka. Their leadership and dedication create a space where our tamariki can thrive, honouring the traditions and values of Māori culture.

Nau mai, haere mai—come and be part of our Kapa Haka whānau!
